New Utilities: September 2, 2005
Software Marketing Associates, Inc., providers of the PRO-MAIL® System has learned that shipments to the Gulf Coast Region have been temporarily suspended due to damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. In an effort to help our licensees manage the request to hold shipments to these areas, we have added two new utilities to the PRO-MAIL® Fulfillment Solution. One utility allows you to stream orders based on a list of zip codes of the affected areas. The other utility allows you to re-stream existing orders and backorders based on zip code. Both utilities are available through the most recent PRO-MAIL® patch. The first utility allows you to update an Order Processing Stream with a list of zip codes of the affected areas. New orders that are placed can be streamed based on these zip codes, allowing you to segregate orders shipping to areas affected by the hurricane. The utility is pre-populated with the list of zip codes from the USPS Web site as of September 2, 2005. You can add and / or remove zip codes from the list as needed through PRO-MAIL® Administration (PMA). This first utility is located in the OMS under the menu option Utilities > Exception Processing > Add Mass Zip Codes to Stream Criteria. The second utility is designed to handle existing orders and backorders that are waiting to be shipped to affected Gulf Coast areas. It allows you to re-stream existing orders based on zip code. You would re-stream all non-deliverable orders and backorders to a new stream. When releasing backorders you would process by stream excluding the non-deliverables. This utility could also be used to pull out select orders based on zip code when those areas become “OK to Send” and re-stream to a stream to be processed. As with the first utility, this one is also pre-populated with the list of zip codes from the USPS Web site as of September 2, 2005. You can add and / or remove zip codes from the list as needed through PMA. This first utility is located under the OMS menu option Utilities > Exception Processing > Re-Stream Orders Based On Zip Codes. In PRO-MAIL® Administration (PMA) you have the ability to edit the table of zip codes that are associated with the National Disaster Listing. This list has been pre-populated with the zip codes listed by the USPS on September 2, 2005 as closed due to Katrina. The table is located in PMA under the menu option PMA > Utilities > National Disaster. Please contact your PRO-MAIL® representative with any questions. |
